5 to 17 Program
Welcome to our 2012 program!!
Our Goals this year:
Characterised by our principles of inclusive theatre practice and led by our Artistic director, Associate director and lead artists, our 5 – 17 year old program is designed to provide opportunities across four terms for young people to develop new skills as theatre makers and to grow confidence in their artistic decision making capacity.
Teenage Ensemble:
This year each venue will engage a select group of teenagers as our 2012 performance ensemble. This will be an audition based group who work toward small performances at the end of each term, using iconic texts to explore theatrical conventions. the members of our teenage ensembles will also be able to audition , in term 3 , for an exciting devised performance piece, called Love Letters. Auditions for the teenage ensemble for all venues will run at South Yarra on January 16th. Register at info@stmartinsyouth.com.au
Excursions Every Term !
9 – 12 year olds at all our venues will attend excursions every term in our new workshop series, Get Out There! These excursions will provide an exciting opportunity for 9-12 year olds to articulate their response to the cultural world outside St Martins walls.
Introducing…..Drama Club!
Running all year for 5-8 year olds , Drama Club will provide a fun and inclusive environment for your young ones to develop confidence and physical awareness through creative role play.
Simplified Timetable at Newport and Northcote:
To make things easier for parents and to enable e collaboration between each age group, our 5 – 8 year old and 9-12 year old workshops will run at the same time this coming year.
Please note: Some days have changed from the 2011 program! This means that all Newport classes for 5 – 12 year olds will run on a Wednesday and all Northcote 5- 12 year old classes will run on Tuesdays!
New Casual Classes for Over 15’s:
In 2012 at South Yarra, we will be introducing a casual class for 15 – 26 year olds.
