St Martins Youth Arts Centre proudly announces….

The St Martins Playwrighting Competition 2009

Open to Australian playwrights
aged 13 to 17 & 18 to 30

For years, the St Martins Playwriting Competition has predicted Australia’s brightest new playwriting talent. Previous competition winners have gone on to have their work featured at the Malthouse Theatre, La Mama and in 2009, Amelia Roper’s BIG SKY TOWN (Playwrighting Competition winner 2007) was selected for the VCE Playlist and is touring to the Arts Centre and Regional Victoria in late April.

Winning entries receive public readings and dramaturgical assistance. Some works may even receive production. There is no constraint on the length, cast size or subject matter. This is a brilliant opportunity to have your work read by industry professionals, regardless of whether your script is selected for development. All playwrights who choose to pay the dramaturgical fee will receive written feedback once the judging is concluded.
There will be two categories, 13 to 17 and 18 to 30 years of age.

The Competition is NOW OPEN – submission deadline 14th August 2009

Entry is free!
Dramaturgical fee [optional] $50
