St Martins offers three very different venues within the one complex, creating a theatrical hub that caters to all facets of the performing arts. These spaces interconnect with the central foyer area, and together with the gallery and courtyard, they provide considerable flexibility; allowing the Centre to be used not only for theatre productions but for festivals, conferences, seminars and other large scale functions.

The Randall Theatre is a 348 seat proscenium arch theatre. (248 seats with thrust)

The Irene Mitchell Studio is a studio space with a flexible seating plan holding up to 100 people.

The Gallery Space seats up to 70 people, ideal for cabaret style performance, can also be used for work shops or exhibitions.

St Martins also offers spaces ideal for rehearsal, workshops and classes.

The Rehearsal Room is an affordable option for holding rehearsals, auditions, workshops and classes.

The Church Hall is an excellent space for dance rehearsal, as well as being suitable for workshops and classes.

To save on transportation costs, we offer a scenery workshop facility, where you can build your scenery on site.

FRINGE @ SMARTIES

We are now taking applications from EMERGING ARTISTS AND COMPANIES to become a part of an exciting season for this year's Melbourne Fringe Festival!

Put up your show in a GREAT SPACE! NETWORK with other artists! We have put together a package to assist artists who are perhaps doing this "Fringe thing" for the first time. 

Our double bill season will run over the three weeks of Fringe Festival (one double bill per week). Our venue hire rates include the venue, lighting/sound equipment, staff hiring costs ie. Technical Supervisor, Front of House Manager and an Usher as well as artistic, marketing/publicity support from our staff!

Irene Mitchell Studio

Irene Mitchell Studio is the birth place for cutting edge work by new and emerging artists. The Studio is a dynamic black box space that is affordable, flexible and ideal for cutting edge works. 

Double bill season $1000 per group per one week season

There is also the option to hire the venue outright, if you do not wish to share the space with another group.

Outright $1800 per week

Randall Theatre

One of Melbourne's most individual mid sized performance spaces with excellent acoustics and atmosphere. Accommodating a wide range of theatrical performances including drama, music theatre, opera and dance as well as being ideal for corporate events, the Randall is this city's best kept secret. Built in 1956 it maintains its original features, while providing leading edge technical facilities.

Double Bill Rate $1300 per group per one week season

Outright $2400 per week

The Gallery

We wish to jazz up our Gallery space at St. Martins over Fringe Festival, we are seeking interest from visual or installation artists to use our Gallery space for next to nothing.

Under 25 year olds can use the space for FREE

Over 25 year olds will be asked to pay $50.00

There is also a small pit off to the right of the space, which would be perfect for a multimedia/photography/anything mini exhibition. 

One artist per space per week.
