WHAT TO PREPARE: The beginning of a THEATRICAL IDEA.
The idea could be anything and could be any shape or size. It could be:
- visual (a photograph, painting, design, particular font type that makes you want to create something)
- or written (a play, a story, a poem, a monologue)
- or aural (a song or piece of music)
- or kinesthetic (use of gesture, a movement piece)
- or a combination of all of these things.
RESPONSE TO A SPECIFIC SITE
To help with this, St Martins will be offering auditionees tours of the venues before the audition so you can think creatively about a performance space. But just to get you thinking performance spaces could include:
- The Church Hall
- The Church Hall yard
- Under the peppercorn tree
- The dressing rooms
- The toilets
- The kiosk
- The courtyard
- The auditorium of the Randall Theatre
- The pit
Audition pieces must be no more than five minutes long and can be presented or performed. The audition must provide a snapshot of the work you would like to make and why and where you would like to position it at St Martins.
