artistic associates mentoring program
Ages 15 to 25
Every year St. Martins provides the opportunity for five to eight members to take part in our Artistic Associates program. Artistic Associates are young people with initiative and commitment who want to live and breathe a theatre environment for twelve months. At the same time as helping St. Martins they also receive mentoring in all aspects of the theatre.
Artistic Associates work up to five volunteer hours a week, [of their own choosing] and are given open access to observe all rehearsals and workshops. At the same time as helping St. Martins with administrative tasks they receive mentoring in publicity, application writing and career development. Artistic Associates assist in the producing and marketing of events such as 'The Big Weekend'. They also help organise social events to keep the St. Martins community buzzing. We rely upon them to network and act as ambassadors on opening nights and all other major events.
In 2008 the St. Martins Artistic Associates will have access to one free workshop each term as well as receiving free tickets to all St. Martins productions. For the first time this year they will also be provided with a program of regular mentoring with various industry guests once a month. These will include the Artistic Director and General Manager of St. Martins, but will also involve other artists and administrators with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Applications for 2008 are now closed.
For any further enquiries and assistance email the Artistic Director.
We are proud to announce...
The Artistic Associates for 2008!
Emily Adinolfi - stage management
Emily studied creative arts growing up doing drawing, ceramics, textiles and studying fine art, design and woodwork in high school. When graduating high school in 2007 she wanted to combine her building, art, sewing and design skills and thought theatre design was the best option. She is currently in her first year of a Diploma of Theatre Arts at Swinburne University of Technology in Prahran and loving it! She gets to experience all areas of theatre and production, her favourite areas being set design and lighting. Emily didn’t have much knowledge of theatre before this year and has joined St Martins to help build her experience and knowledge. Emily is excited to work at St Martins this year and thinks it will be lots of fun!

Rebekka Salmi - set design and gallery curation
Since the age of 6, Rebekka has pursued a variety of theatrical endeavours. This naturally led her to study theatre at USQ (majoring in theatre studies) in 2003. This included working with Queensland Arts Council to workshop original children’s theatre, write and direct original works in the styles of Epic theatre and the theatre of cruelty, create original documentaries that depict the theatrical process and also do dramaturgy for the USQ productions of The Grapes of Wrath, and Three Sisters. Outside of university, Rebekka designed and ran a Summer Shakespeare program, was the workshop facilitator for Que Able, a theatre program for people with intellectual impairments, was seconded to Queensland Theatre Company to do dramaturgy for The Venetian Twins, and co-created a theatre open-mic night known as The Indigo Experiment. In 2007, Rebekka managed Music Queensland, a private music school, reviewed theatre for Australian Stage Online, and continued to run theatre workshops locally. Having recently moved to Melbourne, Rebekka is looking forward to continuing her pursuit for theatrical endeavors and is excited to be a part of St. Martin’s artistic associates program.
