Colosseum was St Martins’ major project for 2001 and the highlight of last year’s season. The writer (Ross Mueller) and director (Brett Adam) worked closely with fifteen St Martins’ members between the ages of thirteen and twenty five and after an initial workshop identifying and discussing questions of direct social and political relevance to youth, focusing on issues relating to the immediate experiences of the cast, worked towards creating a full length play. The play was presented in October in the Irene Mitchell Studio at St Martins as part of the 2001 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
