This season is the culmination of the St Martins Performance Scholarship Programme. After two terms gaining basic skills in acting, movement and voice the students are given the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice. They spend their final term rehearsing a short piece which is given a public presentation at the end of the year.
In 2000 for the first time the season was combined with the St Martins Young Playwrights’ Competition and three of the six works in the season were winning entries. The other three works were devised pieces. Six professional directors were employed to work with the students and six St Martins members were taken on as stage managers/production assistants, one assigned to each production.
The season was divided into two programmes of three works each, one programme performed in the Randall Theatre and the other in the Irene Mitchell studio.
