Luke Kerridge
On The Floor Artist 2012
Luke Kerridge is a Director and Arts Educator.Luke trained as an actor at NIDA. He has also trained with the SITI Company (New York), completed a 6-month Directing Internship with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre (Brisbane), and is currently undertaking the Post-Graduate Directing course at VCA. Luke’s Directing credits include: Tell it Like it Isn’t (atyp), Island and [Imagine Title Here] (Shopfront), Bambert’s Book of Missing Stories (STC Ed Rough Drafts #1), a Directorial Secondment on FOX (Monkey Baa/Siren Theatre Company) and Assistant Director on The Red and White Spotted Handkerchief (STC Ed). Teaching credits include: atyp, NIDA Open Program, Sydney Vocal Arts Centre and Shopfront Contemporary Arts Centre. Luke is also a Teaching Artist for the Sydney Theatre Company’s School Drama Program, a partnership with Sydney University that aims to bring drama skills into the classroom to enhance literacy.
Sally Lewry
On The Floor Artist 2012
Sally Lewry is a practicing artist and recent graduate of The Victorian College of the Arts, in Theatre Animateuring. Sally’s practice investigates different modes of performance, from pedestrian to the highly theatrical. Sally’s practice utilises improvisation, strong physical movement, imagery and language to create raw, engaging and intimate experiences for audience. Sally has worked with contemporary theatre companies including Urban Theatre Projects and PACT Theatre alongside producing and touring independent work.
Pia Johnson
Photographer
Pia Johnson is a Melbourne based photographer.
Pia has photographed performing artists including Paul Grabowsky, Geoffrey Rush, Lucy Guerin, Richard Gill and theatre productions and concerts by Hayloft Project, Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Peepshow Inc, Australian National Academy of Music and Victorian Opera.
Her art practice seeks to investigate issues about cultural difference, diaspora and identity. Ranging from portrait work to abstract and landscape photographs, Pia’s work seeks to find new perspectives on everyday concerns.
Pia’s work has been exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and the USA. She is collected in private and public collections including the National Gallery of Victoria.
Karla Conway
One The Floor Artist 2012
Artistic Director Canberra Youth Theatre
Karla taught secondary Drama and was Head of Drama for 5 years at Mazenod College in
Western Australia. In 2006, she also became the Artistic Director and founder of PAGE OF
WANDS THEATRE COMPANY, an independent collective of trained theatre artists, specializing in
the production of contemporary and musical theatre.
Karla directed the Australian Premiere’s of Mark Ravenhill’s satirical masterpiece – Product at the Parade Studio, Sydney andSam Holcroft’s, Cockroach, for the Canberra Festival. Cockroach was nominated for 3 Canberra
Area Theatre Awards including Best Director and is currently preparing to tour Canberra, Sydney
and Melbourne. Her 2010 production, Retrieval – a devised performance installation, at the
National Library of Australia, was nominated for 9 awards, including a CAT nomination for Best
Director.
The show went on to win 5 including Best Production, Best Original Work, Canberra
Critics Circle Award and the Express Media Award (in Melbourne) for Best New Work with Young
People. In 2011, Karla was selected to represent Australia at the ASSITEJ International Directors
Seminar in Cologne, Germany and finished the year directing Women of Troy by Mark Ravenhill.
Karla is currently in post-production on a new short film, Alfonso Frisk and is working with
renowned playwright, Angela Betzien on a new Australian work, which will have its World Premiere
in October 2012.
